Easy Non-Alcoholic Gin and Tonic (2 Minutes)

Easy to make 2 min Non-Alcoholic
OCT 07 2026BY UPSIDE DRINKS

Looking for a non-alcoholic gin and tonic? You need a bottle of non-alcoholic gin, a good tonic and a lime. One glass, 2 minutes, done.

We use Tanqueray 0.0, our best-selling non-alcoholic gin, with its juniper-led citrus profile, and 1642 Tonic Water from Quebec, made with spruce and lime aromas and a light quassia bitterness. Both are labelled 0.0%. Prefer it ready to drink? See our canned non-alcoholic gin and tonics.

Ingredients

2 oz (60 ml) of Tanqueray 0.0

4 to 5 oz (120 to 150 ml) of 1642 Tonic Water, well chilled

1 lime wedge, plus a lime wheel for the glass

Plenty of ice

Preparation

01

Fill the glass with ice: Use a tall glass or a large tumbler and fill it to the top. More ice melts slower and keeps the drink cold.

02

Pour the gin: Add 2 oz of Tanqueray 0.0 over the ice.

03

Top with tonic: Pour the cold tonic slowly down the side of the glass, or along a bar spoon, so it keeps its bubbles.

04

Finish with lime: Squeeze the lime wedge over the drink, add the lime wheel and stir once, gently.

Preparation advice

Keep everything cold: Chill the tonic, and the gin too if you have room in the fridge. Warm tonic loses its fizz as soon as it hits the ice.

Start at 1 to 2: Non-alcoholic gin is lighter than regular gin, so we use a bit more of it than the classic 1 to 3. Taste and add tonic if you want it longer.

Stir once: One gentle turn of the spoon is enough. Stirring hard knocks out the bubbles.

Variations

  • Cucumber G&T: Use 1642 Cucumber Tonic and a ribbon of cucumber instead of the lime.
  • Garden G&T: Swap the gin for NOA Garden Gin, made in Quebec with herbal, cucumber and green pepper notes, and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
  • Hibiscus G&T: Replace the tonic water with 1/2 oz of Monsieur Cocktail Hibiscus Tonic syrup and 4 oz of sparkling water.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ratio for a non-alcoholic gin and tonic?

We use 1 part gin to 2 or 2 1/2 parts tonic: 2 oz of Tanqueray 0.0 with 4 to 5 oz of tonic. Add more tonic for a lighter drink.

Is this gin and tonic really alcohol-free?

Tanqueray 0.0 and 1642 Tonic Water are both labelled 0.0% alcohol.

Which tonic works best with non-alcoholic gin?

A tonic with real bitterness and not too much sugar, so the gin still comes through. 1642 uses quassia for bitterness and spruce and lime for aroma, which suits a juniper-led gin like Tanqueray 0.0.

Can I buy a non-alcoholic gin and tonic ready to drink?

Yes. Our non-alcoholic gin and tonic collection has canned versions from brands like NOROI, Clever Mocktails and Romeo's Gin.
